AI, taught responsibly.
Most consumer AI tools carry real age requirements — and we take them seriously. Here's exactly how CodeTeachers handles AI by age, instead of just handing a chatbot to a child.
Major consumer AI products have real age gates: ChatGPT's own terms treat under-13 use as adult-supervised only, with ages 13–17 requiring parental consent, and Claude.ai's consumer product is intended for adults. Provider terms change, so we re-check them regularly — but the operating principle doesn't: a young child in a CodeTeachers program never opens their own individual AI account.
Instructor-facilitated only
- •Computational thinking, design, and animation
- •AI is shown through instructor demonstration — kids never open an individual account
Guided, controlled tools
- •Coding, product thinking, and creative technology
- •Only instructor-controlled or pre-approved AI experiences
AI literacy, with consent
- •Increased AI literacy as kids get older
- •Requires written parental permission and age-appropriate tooling
Direct building
- •Deeper, hands-on AI-building work
- •Only where the AI provider’s own terms of service permit use at that age
Every family signs a photo/video consent and an AI/technology consent form before their child's first session — no surprises, and you always know exactly what tools your child is using.
