👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parent’s Guide to Safe AI

How to support your child’s creativity while keeping them safe in the age of ChatGPT and Generative AI.

What is Generative AI?

Generative AI (like ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney) isn't just a search engine. It creates new content based on patterns it learned from the internet. Think of it as a super-smart creative assistant, but one that can sometimes hallucinate (make things up) or share internet biases.

3 Safety Rules for Kids

The "Dinner Table" Talk

AI shouldn't be a secret. Try these conversation starters to normalize healthy AI use:

Starter #1

"If you could build a robot that does one boring chore for you perfectly, what would it be?"

Starter #2

"I heard AI sometimes makes up facts. Have you ever seen it be wrong about something?"

Starter #3

"Let's use ChatGPT together to rewrite the ending of your favorite movie. What should happen instead?"

🚨 The Deepfake Rule

Teach your children: "If you didn't see it happen with your own eyes, pause before you believe it." Remind them that voices and videos can be cloned, so if a "friend" asks for money or help urgently online, call them on the phone to verify.
